A garden notebook with room to grow
Grainier Garden publishes English-language notes on seeds, kitchen gardens, flowers and the equipment that makes small growing spaces easier to manage. The emphasis is practical: what to check before sowing, how to make a sensible plan and where a general rule needs local judgment.
What you will find here
The kitchen-garden directory explains crop names that readers may encounter on seed packets. Growing notes take a question further: choosing trays, keeping seedlings compact, planning a container or saving dry seed. Our seed planner turns a local frost estimate into a starting window, with the assumptions shown beside the result.
This is a gardening editorial website. We do not operate a seed shop, fulfill historical orders or offer planting services. Old product-shaped URLs now lead to crop information. The current site does not make claims about the former retailer's stock, certifications or business history.
How the notes are written
We consult horticultural extension services, botanic references and other primary sources. Sources appear within or at the end of the guides. Calendar dates, cultivar performance and plant health depend on local conditions; a source from one region is not a promise for another. Where the evidence does not establish a variety's identity or characteristics, the page says so.
The bylines are editorial pen names organized by subject, and their illustrated portraits are fictional avatars. They do not represent claimed professional qualifications, employment histories or personal experiences. Product discussions explain selection criteria and published specifications. We do not describe equipment as tested by us unless a documented test has actually taken place.
Pictures and corrections
Garden photographs and editorial illustrations are generated artwork. They set the scene and are not evidence of a specific cultivar, product test or plant identification. Use the botanical sources linked from a reference page when identification matters.
If a guide has an unclear instruction or a factual error, please use the garden note form. Include the page title and the source or observation that would help us review it. We cannot identify an edible plant safely from a short message.
Shopping links
Some guides may carry paid referral links after products and partners have been reviewed. See how shopping links work. Commercial relationships do not turn a general growing guide into a warranty for a harvest, a product or a seed lot.
