How shopping links work

The job comes before the product

Our equipment notes begin with the task: a tray that fits the shelf, a light that covers the seedlings, or a pot that can be watered reliably. We describe useful features and tradeoffs. We do not invent hands-on tests, user ratings or awards. If a product is selected from published information, that is the basis of the recommendation.

Paid referrals

A link marked as a shopping or paid referral link may earn a commission if you take a qualifying action with the merchant. The merchant sets the price, availability, shipping, returns and eligibility. Read those conditions before ordering. There is no checkout on this website.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Amazon links, when enabled, go directly to Amazon US. Amazon-supplied images, price and availability data are shown only while the data is less than 24 hours old. A time stamp accompanies a displayed price. Older information disappears; our independently written selection notes can remain. We do not publish Amazon ratings or review counts.

CJ Affiliate, MaxBounty and eBay offers may be used only when a relevant program and site-specific placement are approved. A banner is labeled as an advertisement. Country-limited offers are withheld when the visitor's country is unknown or outside the approved list. An approval in one program is not an endorsement of every product or a guarantee of suitability.

What is active now

Specific product listings and partner placements are still under review. Buying checklists remain available while outbound merchant links are disabled. This page does not imply that every network named above has an active offer on the site.

Measurement

Our first-party counter aggregates clicks by day, placement and item. It does not store an IP address in the click totals. These counts help us see whether a placement is useful; they are not verified counts of individual people. Merchants and affiliate networks may use their own cookies after you follow a link. Read privacy and cookie information for more detail.
